rensahannou: (Setomaru -- colors)

More on my favorite subject

First off, we have The Exciting Tale of Setomaru and his Blog, or Setomaru's Technical Difficulties.

So. Setomaru updated his blog at around 2:30 p.m. Japan time, which meant around 1:30 in the morning here. I checked for an update around 1:40 in the morning, and discovered a giiiiiiant image consisting of an actual picture in the top-left corner, and then the rest was just white.

I giggled immensely at this, because it was obviously a mistake, and I wondered how long it would take him to fix it. So then, I checked my Friends page, and saw that same entry again -- but this time, the image looked different.

Still gigantic, still mostly white -- but more white. The picture in the upper-left was smaller this time.

Soooo, wondering if it was just lj or something, I again refreshed his blog, and discovered that no, the image actually had changed.

Much more giggling ensued, as I imagined Setomaru seeing his blog, going all "O_O" at it, and frantically trying to fix the giant image, only to make the part he wanted people to see smaller, and doing nothing about the huge white space. (What was even better about this, of course, was the real-time aspect of it all. Yay for checking blogs 10 minutes after they're updated :D)

Wanting to see how this would all play out, I put off sleep for a few minutes longer, and then refreshed the page again, to find another change.

But once again, the actual picture had just gotten smaller. There was still a layout-breaking, mostly-white image.

I, of course, was highly entertained by all of this :DDD And then I started to wonder, maybe the first image I saw wasn't even the original one -- maybe in those 10 minutes he had already tried to fix it! Maybe originally the picture took up that whole giant space, and he had just been trying to resize it the whole time and failing rather miserably. (I also figured that if that was the case, he must be using a digital camera, since it would take a rather impressive cellphone to take a picture that big -- and he's put lots of resized cellphone pics on his blog, so he shouldn't have a problem with that, theoretically.)

I waited some more, refreshing every once in awhile to see if anything had changed, but it didn't, and eventually I just had to go to sleep.

So today I checked again, and everything was fixed -- the image was a reasonable size on his blog, and as I'd guessed, was actually as big as the whole image had been before. I giggled some more, and went to my Friends page -- to see that the entry had been reposted there. (With a different time, I might add -- the second one posted by the blog feed has a time of 2 minutes before the first one, because the time on the entry itself changed, for some reason.) I scrolled down to the original post, and saw the picture, in its full gigantic size.

So apparently, after trying unsuccessfully to resize it several times, he reposted it full-size before finally getting it right.

So yeah. Go you, Setomaru, and your amazing picture-posting abilities. ♥ I bet he's hoping that maybe no one noticed it all. :D

Oh, and yes, I did save each and every attempt I saw -- if you would like to see the giant-white-space-tiny-little-picture images, just let me know. :D

And then we have Interesting Things I've Learned About Setomaru in the Past Couple of Weeks.

Fiiiiirst, I got the answer to one of my top Things I Want to Know About Setomaru. :D In a recent blog entry, he talked a friend from Fukuoka visiting him and going to TeniMyu. The exciting thing about this entry is HE SAYS THEY TALKED IN HAKATA-BEN. Well, "a weird mix of Hakata-ben and standard Japanese", because it had "been too long," I assume since he had actually been in Fukuoka. See, Hakata-ben is the dialect of Fukuoka, but based on some things I read a few months ago when I had just started my learning-about-Fukuoka mini-obsession, I wasn't sure if it was spoken in the entire prefecture, so I didn't know if Setomaru spoke it. BUT APPARENTLY HE DOES (or did) AND NOW I WANT TO HEAR IT. BECAUSE DIALECTS = ♥.

And then, thanks to a Tonari interview that [livejournal.com profile] vanilla_ichigo found (♥), I got an answer to something else I'd been wondering about ever since I first saw Setomaru's episode of DD-Boys -- whether he actually needs glasses. Apparently he does, as he has bad vision in just his right eye. So, normally he just wears a contact in that eye. I don't know why I find this cute, but I've pretty much just stopped trying to figure that out at this point.

There were also some other interesting things, as I knew there would have to be in an interview about that movie. :D The movie is about an anime/manga "otaku" and his yaoi-obsessed girlfriend, and one of the sets was of Setomaru's character's apartment, and as such there was a lot of manga sitting around in it. Apparently during breaks, Setomaru and his co-star would read this manga together -- THIS INCLUDED BL MANGA. He says "The two of us would read it and learn new things, it was fun." SO APPARENTLY HE WAS READING BL MANGA FOR "RESEARCH PURPOSES." WITH A WOMAN WHO IS 8 YEARS OLDER THAN HIM. I find this more amusing than anything, especially that he would just talk about it so openly. It is interesting, though, how reserved he is about some things, and how so obviously not-reserved he is about others. (Not-reserved? Unreserved? Does that work for people...? *looks it up* Oh, apparently it does. Ah well, I'm not changing it.)

Also in the interview, he mentioned the age difference between himself and his character, and how he had wondered if he would be okay for the role (apparently the director said the age different didn't matter). He says he cut and dyed his hair for the role (which is exactly what I thought), and also says doing that ended up just making him look younger (which is also exactly what I thought, and I'm glad I wasn't the only one!). And at one point he called himself "child-faced by nature." Well, "child-faced" is the translation Jim Breen gives for "童顔", but I don't know how you'd say it in English -- I don't know if "baby-faced" has the right connotations. I think he basically just means he looks young, because he goes on to say that he's had a lot of roles where he wears a uniform, but this is the first time he's had one where he wears a suit. ♥

OH YES. SPEAKING OF SUITS. While looking for Tonari stuff before seeing that interview, I happened upon a blog for the movie, which unfortunately doesn't have much of anything. It mentions some magazines that are going to have Setomaru-related articles in them (I waaaaant them~~), and a few other things. One of those things is a short cellphone video -- a clip of Setomaru in various suits and glasses. It gives instructions on how to view it. But I obviously don't have a Japanese cellphone, and I very badly wanted to see the video clip, so....I went on a search for it :D And spent waaaay longer than I needed to finding it, because it really wasn't that hidden at all. But anyway, it's only about 20 seconds long and it's tiny, but IT'S HILARIOUS, because it's very easy to forget (well, if you don't watch him on Oha, at least) that Setomaru is indeed a dork, just like all the other boys. Here is the address for the streaming video, if you'd like to see it: mms://wms.ponycanyon.co.jp/chaku_movie/SP40_00173_01010701.wmv Just to warn you, there's a girl saying "suits" over and over in the background, it gets rather annoying. And if anyone figures out how to save the video itself, please let me know ♥

And speaking of OhaSuta....they're currently having their Summer Break Special, and Setomaru's part started on the 13th. If you go to the show's blog, you can see what he did for the Special -- HE CLIMBED MT. FUJI. ♥ Isn't that just amazing and complelely awesome? I really wish I could have seen those episodes. I'm so proud of him. ♥

....I think that's it for this section. :D

And last but most certainly not least, we have Why Compatibility Quizzes are the Awesomest Things Ever. ♥

In the book for D-Stage, there's lots of cool stuff, including a "compatibility quiz" for the members. It's a series of questions, and each one has two answers, with each answer sending you off to a different question, and so on and so on, until you get to the end and find out which boy you're supposed to be most compatible with.

I started this thing around....1 or 2 in the morning, I think, knowing that I really shouldn't because figuring out that much kanji was going to take forever and a day, and I needed to sleep. Of course, that did absolutely nothing to convince myself, and so with [livejournal.com profile] juudenkanryou's help (♥), I got through it, slowly but surely.

Some of the questions were really hard, and more than once I didn't fully understand a question or answer, which didn't make it any easier. But I did my best, question after question, wondering who I was going to end up choosing....I really had no idea, because these questions weren't obvious at all. I of course knew who I wanted to pick, but considering there were 13 possibilities, I wasn't holding my breath or anything.

Well, until I got to the last question, anyway, then I probably was, I don't remember. And...well, I think I'll just post a transcript, instead of retelling :D

[livejournal.com profile] juudenkanryou: ... and i think the next question is about who you would pick to join an eating contest.
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: I was going to say "no contest," but then I saw that the other option was Zukki.
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: so that complicates things.
[livejournal.com profile] juudenkanryou: :))
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: I think I'd pick Kaji on principle, though.
[livejournal.com profile] juudenkanryou: you have to think REALLY hard about this, it's the last question XD
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: OH IS IT.
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: haha, I want to pick Kaji just 'cause it says "K type."
[livejournal.com profile] juudenkanryou: :))
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: and I like the letter K.
[livejournal.com profile] juudenkanryou: go. XD
[livejournal.com profile] juudenkanryou: *waits for your reaction*
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: naaa, I want to finish figuring out the question and answers first~
[livejournal.com profile] juudenkanryou: okay fine. XD
[livejournal.com profile] juudenkanryou: choice B is "the one with a bottomless pit for a stomach, Kaji Masaki-kun"
[livejournal.com profile] juudenkanryou: and i don't quite get zukki's because it says something about wildlife protection O_o
[livejournal.com profile] juudenkanryou: [*insert Japanese that didn't get saved in the transcript*]
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: 4th kanji is wrong~
[livejournal.com profile] juudenkanryou: yeah, i noticed two seconds after pasting it. XD
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: he has an appetite like a wild animal?
[livejournal.com profile] juudenkanryou: yeah.
[livejournal.com profile] juudenkanryou: i think.
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: hmm.....
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: even though we know Zukki can eat and eat and eat.....
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: I think Kaji would have fun.
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: and he deserves to have fun.
[livejournal.com profile] juudenkanryou: kaji can eat and eat and eat more.
[livejournal.com profile] juudenkanryou: :))
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: *giggle* this hasn't been documented like Zukki, though!
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: yosh'........
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: ...............................
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: ............................................
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: ..............................................................................................
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: .........6 AM. I CANNOT SQUEAL.
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: CANNOT.
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: CANNOT.
[livejournal.com profile] rensahannou: CANNOT.

So instead I kind of flailed around for a while. :D It still makes me giddy, just thinking about it. I know it's just a silly compatibility thing they made up to give the fangirls something to do, but I DON'T CARE. Out of all the D-Boys, out of all those questions, I picked the right answers to lead me to him. And I didn't even cheat, not the slightest little bit! Gah it was sooooooooo worth staying up all night for.

I wonder how they came up with this, though. Did the boys fill out questionnaires, or something, and they made this up based on that? Or was it based on their "stereotypical" personalities?

WELL WHATEVER. I GOT SETOMARU. ♥

When you get to the boy you picked, it gives you a little paragraph that seems to be more about the picker than the pickee. Here's the one for Setomaru (typed up by the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] juudenkanryou ♥):

アネゴ肌のあなたは、いつでもみんなに頼られるしっかり者。面倒見もよく、困っている人を見捨てることができない性格です。ただ、それだけに見えないストレスがたまりがち。疲れたハートに栄養を与えてくれるのは、甘え上手な瀬戸康史くん。彼の笑顔を見るだけで、元気がチャージされるはず!

And, a rough translation:

"As an older-sister-type, you're a level-headed person who is always relied on by everyone. You take care of people, and can't abandon someone in trouble. But, unseen stress tends to build up. To give nourishment to your tired heart, there's the good-at-depending-on-others Seto Kouji-kun. Just from seeing his smiling face, you should get a charge of energy!"

.....Yeeeaaah. I dunno about anyone else, but to me, "good at depending on others" doesn't at first glance seem like something you'd really want to tell people. But I dunno how else to translate that...And really, to me it just seems like a nicer way of saying "good at getting what he wants." Which also sounds bad at first, but....well, it depends, really. :D And I dunno how true of me all that other stuff is, but whatever. I GOT SETOMARU, AND THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS. ♥

Wow this entry ended up being longer than I anticipated. Buuuut I think that's it. Oh, except for my absolute adoration of the picture in this blog entry. The way his eyes match his hair and the collar of his shirt, that necklace, the lighting -- the only thing I'm not completely crazy about in that picture is his expression, because he could still stand to look a bit happier. :( But even with that, it's an amazing picture. I want to print it out and put it on my wall, as a constant reminder to do whatever I can to get to Japan. Because if that isn't inspiring, I don't know what is. ♥

The thought of Seto frantically trying to fix his blog, when he doesn't know what he did wrong in the first place, only to end up making the problem worse every time he does something... ♥

By the time I saw the post, it was a super-large, layout-breaking picture, but about an hour after that, when I refreshed my flist, the picture had been reduced (correctly!), so I'm guessing someone at Watanabe figured out what was going on.

I bet he's hoping that maybe no one noticed it all.
>_< I wonder if anyone commented on it in their Guestbook.

I don't think there's anything about 801-chan I don't find amusing, but the thought of him and his much-older costar reading BL manga together kind of kills me.

...and I actually want to comment a lot more, but I'm hungry. And I want coffee. So, uhm... I will leave you with my opinion that yes, Setomaru <333 is most definitely a mood. A very good one, too! XD

[identity profile] rensahannou.livejournal.com 2007-08-22 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
I know, it's adorably amusing, isn't it? ♥

....And I feel like I should have more to say. Sorry for the sucky reply. :(

[identity profile] hibimaosuki.livejournal.com 2007-08-19 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Seto and Nagayan should totally get together and talk about The Internet one day. No0bs. XDDDDDDDDDDDD I can imagine him going "O__________o" and "...X_____x" and "m(__)m *pwned*" at the pictures.

(Yes, I know I'm wonderful and I love you too. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥)

Oh crap. I didn't save that conv with the compatibility test thing. *cries* But I completely remember. Gah, what time did you go to bed, 7AM right? XDDDDDDD While you were busy figuring out the question and answers on that last item, I was smacking the pillar next to me with a throw pillow in excitement because I had to take pity on my poor keyboard and not smash it anymore XD

I am still entirely amused that I got Shirota. I really like him, but it never crossed my mind that we'd be compatible personality-wise. XDD

[identity profile] rensahannou.livejournal.com 2007-08-22 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
*giggle* I have a feeling that if Setomaru and Nagayan got together to talk, the Internet would be pretty far down their list of topics. ;)

(*laughs* Well, as long as you know! ♥)

I saved it (obviously), if you want it~ And yeah, it was around 7. And good, I wouldn't want to be responsible for keyboard abuse!

You just like the spazzes, admit it :P

[identity profile] hibimaosuki.livejournal.com 2007-08-22 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
Would most of their stage conversations center around their stage partners? ^______^

(I do ♥)

Yeah, send it over when we come online together again ^_^

YES I DO. Look who I'm totally in love with -- Takki, Baba, Tuti, Manpei... XDDDDDDDD Of COURSE I like the spazzes. ^^;

[identity profile] hibimaosuki.livejournal.com 2007-08-22 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
... Most of their CONVERSATIONS. Not "stage conversations". WTF how did that word get in there....
